Titas in Paris

by - August 10, 2019

I am extremely proud for both of us. More than a decade of friendship, yung mga dating sleepovers turned to Airbnb, Pansol outing is upgraded to Paris Tour. Sino nga naman mag aakala.

It was an amazing weekend! One for the books! The absolute perfect blend of sitting in cafes and drinking wine with sightseeing, shopping, eating, and good convos. The weather ended up being great! I remember a lot of walking. I was actually a little worried cause this Tita is preggo but she never complained (except when she is hungry, which is every 30 mins!).

We don’t have a comprehensive itinerary. It is more like a spontaneous adventure. Here’s a rundown of what we did, ate, and shopped! But of course, we still did those Touristy things but never really stayed. We slipped in a walk inside and around the outside of the Louvre, peeked at the Notre Dame, and of course the Eiffel Tower. I’ll highlight a few of my favs below! Warining – LOTS of photos coming your way…

Breakfast at The Hood

Dress: New Look

We had breakfast at The Hood which is just a few steps from our Airbnb. The place serves coffees, breakfast, banh mis, barbecue and street food. I ordered Banh Mi and Grace had a Chiffon Pandan Cake. An Espresso shot for me and Orange Juice for the pregnant lady.
The food was okay. It's a comfortable and airy space perfect for creatives. It's a place where you can hangout and meet people.

Address: 80 Rue Jean Pierre Timbaud, 75011 Paris (under renovations)
Paris Metro: Line 2 (Couronnes), Line 3 (Parmentier), Line 5 (Oberkampf)

Louvre Museum

Early Morning in Louve, already crowded

We arrived here mid day and as we expected there were loads of tourist already. We have no intension of going inside the museum. We knew we needed the whole day if we want to explore at least one wing plus theres a long queue for the ticket.

Carrousel de Louvre is a shopping centre just below it that allows you to see the inverted pyramid. We went inside and took a snap.

Notre-Dame de Paris

Dress and Bag under £20: Primark

This was taken on our first day at the western façade of the Cathedral. I am always fascinated by the beauty of gothic architecture. If you look closer you will see how delicately detailed the design. Its amazing to see a well preserved Cathedral.

I was saddened as news broke on 15 April 2019 that the roof of the French cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris was on fire.

Shakespeare and Company

Shakespeare and Company is a  small, crumbling bookshop on Paris's Left Bank , may be the most famous bookstore in the world.

Strolling up to the store’s early 17th-century building on a one-block stretch of Rue de la Bûcherie, with its small half-plaza in front, its weather-beaten bookstalls, its green-and-yellow façade, its hand-hewn, rustic-looking signage. Surprisingly there was no queue outside. The inside is rustic, small cozy and very quiet. It's every writers and book lovers dream!

We grabbed a few books as a souvenir and a limited edition Harry Potter book as gift for a friend of mine. It comes with a bookmark!

Lunch at Le Petit Châtelet

People from work suggested me to try the Snails and Fog Legs in Paris. It's one of France delicacies and I was up for the challenge! Snails are pretty common in the Philippines but i never get to try them. I cant believe my first snail or what we call back home"Kuhol" experience is in Paris.

People are looking when our order arrived in our table. They even watched me eat the thing! I heard an American mum telling her daughter to try. I can see their faces disgusted while Im eating. If you'll ask me what it taste like, it has load of herbs and butter on it, that is the primary flavour. Texture and taste-wise, I would say it's most similar to clams or oysters but more substantial. So it's kind of like have baked clams/oysters in a herby-butter-garlic sauce. It was delicious!

Tour Eiffel

And of course the Eiffel Tower. A trip to Paris will not be complete with a visit this this iconic monument.

This was taken on our second day (same day as the Louvre) But you'll notice that our dresses were different! Its because we shopped and went back to our Airbnb to change outfits! ha! We're crazy like that!

Moments in Between

We spent 70% of out time shopping around Champs Elysées Avenue and Forum des Halles. We picked a few pieces and scored some sale items. In fact those dresses we are wearing in the above photo is from Forever21 and Bershka.

Had our last bite of croissant before we jumped off separate trains.
Found a photo-booth in the Metro Station.
And that concludes our Paris trip.
