It was my first time in Bacolod and I have no idea about this place except for the Masskara Festival which they are famous for.

We arrived at Bacolod Silay International Airport passed 10 in the morning with an empty stomach. The flight was good but the what happened prior to departure was another story.

Our colleague Jm, was a buzzer beater. We are already boarding when he arrived at the airport. Luckily, we already got his boarding pass ready. The whole situation got us all pressured we didnt expect he will make it. Thank goodness for the delayed flight and delayed bus transfer. He made it!

Anyway, when you browse to the web you'll see that one of the most suggested place to stay in Bacolod is the 11th Street Bed and Breakfast so we opt to took a reservation with them. We were travelling as a group (7 pax) so we initially booked for a family room but unfortunately all family rooms were fully booked. There are only 2 rooms available on our preferred date and good thing we still get a good deal.
We got 2 air conditioned rooms for only Php1100 good for 2 and additional Php300 per head. That was like Php400+ per head per night breakfast included. Pretty good deal!

This trip will not be forgotten, not because of how elnido captured our hearts but because we missed our flights twice! Can you believe that?

We missed our flight to PPS - Puerto Princesa because we were 5 minutes late, yes 5 minutes! Checkin counter was already closed when we arrived at NAIA terminal 3. I tried to argue with the checkin counter officer explaining that i called their office for an online checkin but no one was answering! It was no good, we still missed the flight after several arguments with the Ate officer.

I almost cried, devastated of what happened. It was my dream vacation! Well to make the story short, we booked another flight (with different airline!) the earliest possible. El nido is 4-5hrs away from PPS and the transfer van was waiting for us.

I got a package tour from Amyreko Travel Angency for 5,500/pax - discounted rate (airfare not included). This includes, 2 nigths accomodation at Stunning Vistas Resort (with breakfast)
Elnido island tour A and van transfers.
Pretty good deal.

We wanted to stay longer but work is waiting back in Manila. On our last day we woke up 4AM and got ready for the van transfer. Our flight scheduled to depart PPS at 12nn, with that timeline we still missed our fight. Thank goodness the agency refunded the tickets.

Potipot Island is located in Candaleria, Zambales which is about about five to six hours travel from Manila and four hours from Clark Freeport Zone. The  island is conveniently small where you can literally walk around it  in just an hour.  There are two options for you in visiting the island:

  1. Either you stay in one of the hotels across the mainland in Brgy. Uacon for accommodation and have the bangkero drop you off and fetch you by nightfall. (Potipot is just a 5-10 minutes ride from the mainland.

It was our first time going on a camping type getaway. And it a turned out so wonderful. What could be more wonderful than finding yourself alone in a island (with your lover ). Yes you read it right, we owned the island that time.

This place is  soo beautiful, so relaxing just make sure that you visit Potipot on weekdays.

Public Transportation
1. Ride a Victory Liner bus bound to Sta. Cruz, Zambales.
2. Coordinate with the bus conductor to drop you off in Brgy. Uacon, Candelaria or in Dawal. If you haven’t bought your supplies, you can ask the conductor to drop you at Candelaria Public Market and just ride a tricycle to bring you to the resorts in the area.
3. Upon finding a resort of your choice, hire a bangka (boat) going to Potipot island.
 Private Vehicle
  1. Use the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) all the way to Dau exit then continue to the Subic-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx).
  2. Travel all the SCTEx till Tip Exit, passing through the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and on to the Subic Town.
  3. Take the National Road where in you will pass the towns of Castillejos, San Marcelino, San Narciso, San Felipe, Cabangan, Botolan, Iba, Paluig and Masinloc before reaching Candelaria. You can easily ask for the directions/suggestions for accommodation.
Note: There is an entrance fee for the island, 100php for day trippers and 300php for overnight campers.

So I am late again for blogging about my trip to Zambales. I spent two days and one night in a place devoid of any necessities (and what more, conveniences) offered by the modern world. It was my first time going on a camping type getaway. And if there's anything I learned about this weekend, it's that surviving in the wilderness on a remote island (with no electricity, no cellular connection, no cold drinks, no bed, no blog, no facebook, no instagraaaaam!) I had to save two pictures for my 365project just because i cant upload them. And yes I am not complaining.

We arrived in Pundaquit mid-afternoon. The boat rides and the barbaric Olongapo heat woke me up. I was on night shift, I took a nap and woke up half an hour before our designated meeting time. I’m good at being responsible. Despite being "early" we still consumed too much time waiting for the boylet of May before we left Manila. That guy acted like a VIP, being late for two hours. Oh boy.

Our first Stop: Capones! The island is small and looooooo-vely. White sand, amazing view, some rock formations and clear blue sea water.

With them girlz. From left that's Myka, Lorraine, Enzo, Boss CPA (i forgot his name), Me, Sheila, S, May and Gian. I love the bangkero who took this photo. Guess why. Clue: He erased two faces. LOL
This is one of my favorite shots.
Lover said i have a big tummy in this photo. Hell no! The correct answer is Yes, I covered it with the polo.

After spending sometime in the water and sunning ourselves, we headed our way to our second and final stop: Anawangin.

Anawangin Cove is beautiful. The landscape is amazing: mountains, beach, pine trees, a river, a lake, foliage, and the clearest moonlit night sky. It all sounds cheesy until you get there, so shut up.

Unfortunately, everyone had the brilliant idea of going there the same weekend as us. The place was substantially peopled, much to our annoyance (because we’re greedy and we don’t particularly like showering in front of an ogling male crowd or sharing toilets with a hundred strangers), but it was an all right crowd. I guess. It’s not like we had a choice.
This is not ours, it's the neighbors tents. Pretty eh?

And that's me pretending to read fifty shades of Grey. S bought that book really just to take this shot. LOL

skills? WE HAV ‘EM

A lot of drinking and passing out occurs the first night. I, myself, finally passed out on a bench some time after the fifth bottle of the cheap brandy. I woke up, wet and freezing (still wearing the two piece with the cover up) not wondering where everyone else went and moved to my tent.

I was miraculously not hungover the next day.

Plans to hike the mountains were unsuccessful. It's nearing noon and the sun was unbearable. We hit the river instead. I like the river a lot, the trees and the mountain is just perfect. Not enough water to swim, though.
Here's a photo of S and Sheila. Not a very good photo, framing is good for me but subject is dark but i still like it.

After some useless photos, we headed back the beach to hang out and to find 'em boyz. The weather was nice.
Not the beach obviously. Made me feel like Christmas time.

We met these cool people on the hot shore of Anawangin. We shared stories over three cases of Red Horse and wished we've met the very first night in the Island.

Tadaaaah! And that's my Bestfriend hooking up with Jeff having some FAKWAN. LOL

I end my vacation with a HUGE smile. Probably because this is the first out of town this year.
Had a little regret of not going to Nagsasa Cove. It's prettier there I heard. Maybe next time.
